The time slips by so fast

The orgo exam on friday was... well it was actually terrible and a horrible exam-taking experience and just generally traumatizing, but we shall excuse that for the moment as it's done and in the past and really, there is nothing I can do to change it.

Though I do now have a much stronger incentive to go to class and study for the quizzes and generally try to learn the material in the weeks before the exam, instead of the two days before the exam.

Famous last words.

My weekend was good. Friday was dinner with my father and then dancing. Salsa and Hustle night at Dance Times Square. As Dru doesn't really hustle, he and I west coasted to hustle music... and I danced hustle with another person I knew who happened to be there named Wei. Wei is actually a very good leader -- it's a pity he doesn't believe in syllabi because he'd make a really good addition to the ballroom team.

Saturday was more dancing -- practice in the afternoon, practice at which I discovered that waltz is an immensely frustrating dance to lead, not because the steps are so hard or because it's intellectually hard, but because it requires a lot of concentration, and even with concentration, it's easy to forget where you are and where you go next.

American Tango went significantly better.

Saturday night was Chih's party... which was a lot of drinking, and dancing, and karaoke and just general enjoyment. I finally saw Shall We Dance?, a Japanese movie about ballroom competition. It was terribly cute and I will certainly have to watch it again so as to hear all of the music they use and so on (there was loud dance music playing in the other room, so I couldn't really hear the soundtrack of the movie. Ah well). But it was cute. And the party was fun -- nearly everyone there got drunk and did silly things. I stayed sober, but also did silly things because I was happy and relaxed. Ballroom is a good thing.

And now, to study for the midterm I have this friday. Goodnight.

Just had to comment. I loved that movie, Shall We Dance. So sorry you couldn't see it in less distacted surroundings. Your enthusiasm for dance is inspiring. My best friend is a ballroom dance instructor, and having spent more time with him in recent years, I'm just iching to learn myself. While it's daunting at this point to ever tackle the Tango, I simply must be able to do it someday. I've got a lot of work ahead of me at this point; but it's verve like yours that urges me on... proving it will be worth all the effort. Thanks.

PS--I'm going to assume you've already seen Tango and not bother recommending it. I'll just tell you that I loved it... lit a fire inside.
