music: Nine Days - Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)

7 am is not my time of day. Or rather, it's far too early for me to be getting up and still remaining functional for the rest of the day. But it was nice to get up then... I curled my hair (and discovered that my hair does indeed tame under the wonderful invention known as a curling iron... well when the humidity is right for it, at least) and put on makeup and took a generally leisurely time getting up to Grand Central station to catch my train to Mount Vernon.

Grand Central Station is a very dull and deserted place at 8 am on a Sunday morning. But it is lovely in that, though being modern, it has maintained the feeling of the famous MGM Grand Central Set featuring tracks 48 and 49 that dates back to the musical HeyDay of the 1940's and 1950's.

I watch too many old movies.

My thoughts are all disconnected right now. I had a lovely day -- visiting people and meeting people and talking and laughing and eating and just enjoying being a part of something.

And then I came back to my dorm and fell asleep promptly for a 3 hour nap.

But. It was beautiful to get away from the city where there is green and trees and houses and things. It had a rather suburban feel in a way, but also a much more laid back, lazy summer Sunday feeling, where it is okay to simply sit and exist, without worrying about checking the mail or paying the bills or making the subway or running early or running late.

I think I will miss working fulltime at the lab.
