music: Broadway Cast Recording - Seussical the Musical / green eggs and ham (curtain call)

Proof was great. Really really great. Good acting nice set and also a truly wonderful script. Plenty of insteresting twists and turns in the plot and of course a happy ending. The notion of the play was very interestingly conceived, and Mary-Louise Parker was just brilliant.

I'm very glad I had the opportunity to go. I was sitting in the balcony which was ... a bird's eye view of the show, but it didn't detract from it, really... the script was strong enough that it would be great even in a staged reading or something. But really the idea of the show didn't sound that interesting -- intriguing, but not something I'd bother spending money for -- a show about a father, his daughter and a proof? Not appealing. If the ticket hadn't been free, I probably wouldn't have gone. I am so very glad I did. The show was so much more interesting than the description I'd heard of it.

I loved it. Loved. It.

And it was the first straight play I've ever seen on Broadway, which is pretty cool. Not that there aren't a lot of straight plays being done in NY, but on Broadway at least musicals far outnumber straight plays. But it made me want to see more. I would really like to see Neil Simon's The Dinner Party sometime soon. Next week perhaps.
