ice cream at Ben and Jerry's down the block when it's 50 degrees at night in the middle of February is one of life's great pleasures. And a lovely perk of living in NYC... (back in MN if one wanted to go for ice cream in the middle of the night, one couldn't because there would be nowhere to *find* it.)

My friend and I went for this tonight and it was great fun. Then we decided, on a whim, to find a 1:00 am movie.

So we saw Castaway and had a great time (since the theatre was mostly empty) making snide remarks about the hollywood-ness of it all. But it was a good movie... and I really admired Tom Hanks' ability as an actor (always have, but this movie was impressive)... he could pull off essentially a one-man show on film and not seem to be aware of the audience. The dialogue was surprisingly believable... perhaps not the most brilliant script ever, but it had many a great great moment.

And I meant to go to bed early tonight. Oops.
