Movies: Part II

I promise to write a real update one of these days. But for now:

#8. 10 Things I Hate About You: Watched Jan 15, 2005. Seen in Palo Alto with friends before my first day of mountain skiing in scenic Lake Tahoe. (Yes. Things have been happening in my life... I should probably write about them at some point). I love this movie. I am a sucker for romantic comedies, in general, and this one in particular as it's adapted Shakespeare that's been adapted in a GOOD WAY. Also, Heath Ledger is pretty.

#9. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir: Watched Jan 23, 2005. (I am finding it hard to believe that I actually went a full 8 days without watching any movies... but suffice it to say that if I did watch any, they were unremarkable enough to have not been committed to memory). This was the first in a series of Movie Nights for me and shallwedance_ in which we watch a classic movie or movie musical to satisfy our (my) undying love for old movies. It was surprisingly good, despite a somewhat strange premise. Rex Harrison is typecast as a crochety old man, err, ghost, who captures the heart of widow Mrs. Muir. Fortunately, Rex Harrison is well-cast in this film, even if it is typecasting. And it featured many a great line. Final thoughts: "I've always wanted to be considered an obstinate woman."

#10. Bring it On: Watched Jan 25, 2005. Classic High School movie. But the cheer routines are good and it's got heart. So it was fun to watch while working on other stuff. I don't know that it was good enough to justify a sequel, though...

#11. Robin Hood: Men In Tights: Watched Jan 28/29 2005. As this is one of the Mel Brooks movies I had not yet seen (and I generally love Mel Brooks because hey, he's irreverent and funny) I decided it would make a nice movie for my Friday Night. Of course, I fell asleep halfway through and watched the rest on Saturday, but still. It didn't disappoint; while not the comic genius of History of the World Part I, it was quite amusing.

One of these days I need to start a list of quotes -- wise, witty and witless from friends and films, I think.
