Flying Finns and and things

The world is full of crazy people.

In a break from thesis-writing, I watched "Stunt Junkies" on the discovery channel to watch a crazy Finn with miniature jet engines strapped to his feet soar accross the sky and a wakeboarder jump a 60 foot fountain.

I wonder, at times, what is it about people wanting to fly? This idea of flight has captivated us for ages, pervading mythology ... I wonder if it comes from a desire to be master of everything, to feel free of predators, and to see the world uninterrupted and free from daily distractions.

That and the rush of wind over our skin and bodies, but that feeling can be had in so many ways.

I've had the odd flying dream and agree with this interpretation:

"In reality, we do not have the ability to fly. Thus such dreams may represent that which is beyond our physical limitations. In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Undoubtedly these dreams leave you a great sense of freedom." (source)

People are just trying to touch that dream in real life.
