today I saw a double rainbow

mood: stressedstressed
music: Savage Garden - Crash & Burn

As I was leaving the Kingdom Hall after our meeting (at which, it should be noted, I felt rather dull-witted mostly because I slept rather late today for some unexplained reason. I believe it is stress.) I, along with several other people, were by chance standing just on the edge of the clouds with the sunlight behind us. So we saw twin rainbows etched accross the sky... the full arc of the first and a partial ark of the second which was much fainter. It was beautiful, though.

Miss Jan is getting on my nerves. She was screwed up when she was fifteen, and that never changed. I'm not a psychologist, but from knowing depressed people and reading their journals, I would, from reading her diary, diagnose Virginia Woolf as a clinically depressed person. But then her doctors maybe did and she never wrote about it, and maybe they didn't. Medicine has, after all, come a long way in the last century.

One more day and I will be finished with her. I think I will celebrate by selling all of her books back to the NYU bookstore, should it be possible. Or perhaps I will keep them for posterity. But in any case, they shall cease to grace the bookshelves of my dorm room.

I once had a list of books to read before college. Probably it is still in my room somewhere. I wonder how many I can highlight as books I have read now, having finished only one semester. (well technically there are still the ever-looming finals. But the classes have been completed.)

At least I only have a mere few newspaper articles to read and a paper to write (though it is rather a long one... it is by definition my opinion and does not have to be supported and cited, near as I can tell, so it should go quickly) and I'm starting at least two hours ahead of when I normally start such things. Although it will end up being less than that because I'm craving McDonald's so I will go and get fries before anything else.

Em comes back tomorrow. My quiet and studious apartment will be a lot less quiet by tomorrow night. Hello Bobst Library, you are my new friend.

"Crash and Burn," that is. Hang in there this week, Liz--you can do it! Good luck! --Mina :^)
