Apparently I don't update here enough. So. This is me. Updating.

I finally caught up with my mom yesterday... and we talked for a longlonglong time and that was a good thing because we haven't really talked to each other in about three weeks. So we had a lot to catch up on. We concluded that most people are very stupid and for some reason believe that the world owes them a living -- she talked about her friend and I talked about mine as we are both having similar problems with similar people. And I made her proud because I thanked her for the way she raised me because I have realized that she raised me to actually be a very good person and a polite, well-mannered, etc. person.

We also discussed accents and how neither of us really have one, except on certain words. For instance, any time I say "c'mon y'all," it will come out of my mouth with a Texas accent because that's where I learned the phrase. It is not a Minnesota phrase or a New York phrase and to say in proper English "Come on, you all" just doesn't sound right somehow. So my "c'mon" is slurred and my "y'all" has a diphthong. It applies to other phrases as well, ones that are not from Texas, but phrases that are from other places that I have lived and learned words. The ultimate result of all of this is that my accent is very hard to place as it is not really an accent, but a combination of phrases and accents that skip by so quickly that only Henry Higgins would be likely to catch all of them.
